((actually it’s an herbal supplement derived from the actual licorice plant but with most of the sugar and glucose and stuff taken out. it’s really good for soothing the stomach lining and the digestive tract.))

Oooh nifty. I’ll put it on my grocery list and have a look at it next time I’m at the store.

((you’d probably have to go to a specialty shop, tbh. someplace that sells like vitamins and herbs and stuff. as far as I know, grocery stores don’t carry that kind of stuff.))

Well poop.

((they aren’t as rare as people think, just most people don’t notice them. places like gnc and vitamin world would have the stuff you’re looking for.))

De.. what..

I hate licorice actually. Its the one food item I refuse to eat.

((hahaha…yeah. uh…I got nothing else, only that also charcoal can help calm a stomach too. but make sure you get like the charcoal pills, don’t just go biting into the briquette things.))

My tummy is just upset because I haven’t had anything to drink in a while and I’m tired of water today, but I have acid reflux, so if I drink soda too much (or at all lately), it’ll screw me over.

(Probs just go with water anyway though)

((oh. actually uh… deglycyrhizinated licorice is good for acid reflux and so is liquid aloe. but totally get some water or juice or something.))

ladyinverse:

((try fruit juice, preferably something non-acidic. If that fails, try to find something with mint, sage, or turmeric/curcumin.))

I.. uh

I think I have.. no no I don’t.

I may have some dried mint leaves. 9v9”’

“Agh! A-haagh!” Orin was, for the moment, unable to answer from Elly’s blows, tears streaming from her eyes as she hacked again and again, already starting to curl up. “It hurts!” she screamed, reaching up to clutch her ribs only to yell out once more as Elly’s foot smashed into her hand. “It hurts, okay!? That’s what you wanted to hear, right!?”

A terrified thought rose to her mind that Elly might actually be trying to kill her, and Orin did the first thing that came to her mind, weakly trying to sit up, turn away, perhaps even run away if Elly gave her enough time. “Leave me alone!” she cried out, one hand reaching back as if to ward away the hail of blows.

“I don’t just want to hear it, I want you to suffer! I want you to know how she felt when you beat her around without any regard for her asking you to stop!” Elly laughed as she continued to kick at Orin, though it was more of her just stomping on her at this point.

Laughing wildly, Elly raised her scythe into the air and slammed it down, the blade burying itself in the ground just ahead of Orin’s panicked attempts to run away. “Not fun, is it!? Being the victim, not having any chance to run, to defend yourself!? WELL? ANSWER ME!”

Orin barely had time to process the words Elly was speaking before she was shoved backwards and into the air. Even that lasted for less time than she could really react before she felt the dull smash of the blunt end of Elly’s scythe into her back. The kasha reacted as expected, eyes widening and letting out a stranged “ghhk!” sound as the air was forced out of her lungs, among other things.

Even that wasn’t enough, apparently, as Orin felt another dull thud into her side from Elly’s kick, her body rattling from all the blows as she fell to one leg, weakly supporting herself with one arm as she hacked and gasped, staring at the ground. “W-who…” she managed to get out before she was wracked with a fit of coughing. Apparently Elly’d already done quite a number on her diaphragm. “W-who are you…?”

Elly smirked down at Orin as let her cough and gasp. “Me? Just someone who happens to be a close friend of a one Hieda no Akyuu. You know, the girl you attacked when she was trying to correct a mistake!? The one you left goddamned traumatized for no damn reason!?” Elly’s voice was at normal tone, but the rage within it was outright palpable as she glared down at Orin. “So are you afraid, cat? Because I’m going to do even worse to you than you did to her!”

Finally letting herself shout at the last part, Elly lashed out in a series of kicks aimed at Orin’s already hit ribs, aiming to cause as much pain as possible while Orin was on the ground. “It hurts, doesn’t it!? Being helpless like this, just having yourself beaten all over the place!?”

Elly smirked at the cat as she looked her over, noting the spirit as she did so. So she was forcing spirits into vengeful spirits, huh? Good, that was just another thing to hold against her. She swept her hat off her head in a sweeping bow as she spoke, now in full theatrical mode. “Definitely not ordinary, no…I’ve been a number of things. A pitiful soul, a hunter, a gatekeeper…but right now I’d say I’m something more along the lines of…” Trailing off, Elly swept her hat back up to reveal an almost psychotic grin, her yellow eyes wide as she stared at Orin, “an angel of vengeance, or something like that!” As she roared out the last line, her scythe found it’s way to her hands in a flash of black energy, before being hurled straight at Orin’s head, screaming through the air as it flew.

At the same time, Elly charged behind the scythe, keeping pace with the flying instrument of death as it hurled towards Orin. Her posture was low, ready to vault over the cart to grab the cat as she dodged the thrown scythe and pin her to the ground. It was going to end badly no matter how she reacted now.

It all happened so fast. One moment, the shinigami was smiling, bowing, introducing herself. The next, and the one moment Orin had of warning, she was sporting a psychotic grin and shouting something about vengeance. Now there was a word Orin had heard all too often. Her eyes widening at the sudden appearance of the scythe, she did the first thing that came to mind. She bent her own body backwards to let the thing sail over her head. It turned out to be the wrong move.

Her body bent like this, Orin simply didn’t have time to react further when she saw Elly vault over the cart right on top of her. All she could really do was take the hit as the shinigami came down on her, pinning the kasha to the ground, Orin too stunned to move. “Wha…?” was the only thing that came out of her mouth, utter confusion the only thing in her thoughts. She was a deer in the headlights.

Elly’s manic grin remained as she pinned Orin to the ground, before pulling her up, lifting the cat off her feet. “Hi there! You know…you roughed up a good friend of mine a while back, really did a number on her. Me? I’m here to repay the favor threefold, if not more!” With that, she shoved Orin backwards, straight into the path of the dull blade of the rapidly approaching scythe as it boomeranged back from it’s initial throw.

And from there, she really unloaded, swinging a leg up to kick Orin in the side if she took the scythe blow, or swing herself to catch the scythe if the hellcat managed to dodge the blow, so she could easily start to use the scythe as a close quarters weapon instead of a thrown weapon.

Orin, for her part, was feeling pretty satisfied with herself. She’d stolen a corpse fresh from the village, not even buried yet, and was currently holding a rather pleasant coversation with the blue-flamed spirit next to her about his own death. Seems he’d gotten mauled by a youkai. It happened sometimes, she supposed. Then there was the second meeting with Akyuu in a few days to a week where she could check on the progress of Satori’s article… needless to say, she was practically humming.

It was a surprise, of course, to suddenly see a blonde, red-clothed shinigami standing right in front of her without any warning. Surprising enough that she stopped the cart all of a sudden, the corpse in it jerking forward, one of the arms tipping to hang off. “I am,” she replied, giving Elly a rather pleasant curtsy and a smile. “And who might you be? Judging from the fact that you’re not running in fear, you’ve got to be something other than an ordinary human, right?” Oh, she had no idea what was coming.

Elly smirked at the cat as she looked her over, noting the spirit as she did so. So she was forcing spirits into vengeful spirits, huh? Good, that was just another thing to hold against her.
